Shared 2 Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Zagora

The drive takes approximately 7 hours, including scenic stops at Aït Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, and the High Atlas Mountains.

Zagora is a rocky desert with smaller dunes, not like the large golden dunes of Merzouga. However, you will still experience a camel trek and the beauty of the desert landscape.

Camel rides can be a bit bumpy, but they are a unique and authentic way to experience the desert. If you prefer, a 4×4 transfer to the camp can be arranged instead.

Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for the day, and a warm jacket for the night. The desert cools down sharply after sunset, and in winter it can get genuinely cold, so pack thermal layers between November and February. Bring your own towel for the camp, a small backpack for the overnight, and some cash in Moroccan dirhams for lunches, tips and personal expenses.

Yes. The price of this tour includes a night at our comfortable Zagora camp, in a traditional hand-woven Berber tent, with clean shared bathroom blocks a few steps away, separate for women and men, with hot and cold water and soap. There are no private bathrooms inside those tents, and towels are not provided, so bring your own.

The luxury camp is an upgrade of 70 EUR per person. Each tent there has its own private bathroom with a toilet and a hot shower, plush bedding and Berber decor, and towels and toiletries are provided. Select the upgrade when you book, or tell us before departure. It cannot be arranged once you have arrived at the camp.

We recommend bringing a small backpack for essentials. Larger suitcases can be stored in Marrakech or placed in the minibus luggage area.

You will arrive back in Marrakech around 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

You sleep in a traditional black Berber tent, the khaima, made from wide woven bands of goat hair, sheep wool and palm fibre, stitched together by hand. They are simple and authentic, and warmer inside than you would expect once the desert cools down. The camp has two clean sanitary blocks, one for women and one for men, with hot and cold water and soap. Dinner is served under the stars, with Berber drumming around the fire, and breakfast follows the sunrise camel ride.

Yes, and it buys you a tent to yourself. At the comfortable camp the single supplement is 17 EUR. At the luxury camp it is 40 EUR. Apart from that, a solo traveller pays exactly the same per-person rate as everyone else, and departures are guaranteed daily with no minimum group size. Tell us when you book and we will confirm the supplement with your booking.

The 80 EUR per person covers the shared air-conditioned minibus with an English-speaking driver-guide, pick-up and drop-off at your Marrakech hotel or riad, one night at the Zagora desert camp with dinner and breakfast, the camel trek at sunset and the camel ride at sunrise, and campfire entertainment with Berber drumming. Lunches and drinks are not included, so you choose the stop and the budget, and neither are tips, personal expenses or travel insurance.
